XH558, still Queen of the skies! I love the sound that a Vulcan makes. I went to the first RAF Boscome Down open day where there was a sound off between the B52 (Eight engines), the B1 (Four engines and afterburners), and the Vulcan (Four RR Olympus, no afterburners). Result? Game, set, and match to the Vulcan! The Vulcan howl has to be heard to be belived, it was the one airframe that I never had the chance to work on in the RAF, something I still want to do, but as all my aircraft engineering quals have now lapsed, it ain't going to happen!
