One of my enduring memories of Johnny is of arriving as a "new boy" at a lakeside Shanty Festival in Poland and being guided to the main venue by Johnny's amazing voice booming across the lake from about half-a-mile away...I'm so glad I had the privilege of sharing a shanty-stage with this lovely man on many occasions - I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, and can only hope that Johnny has found his very own version of "Fiddlers' Green" . . "And when you're in Dock and the long trip is through - There's pubs and there's clubs and fine curries there too - The singing of songs ,and the company of friends- Where the sun never sets and the song never ends..." With love and sympathy to Joyce ....
