A veteran performer in the Brighton area told me a couple of years ago that he was one of the few of his generation still doing his bit at clubs. Virtually all of his peers had virtually ceased performing as they reached 70, and he reeled me off a list. A variation on this could be that it will be harder to catch veteran performers as they now play only occasionaly or support one club; where in the old days they would probably have visited most folk gatherings from time to time.
