I had one of those "You know you're getting old when..." moments when I took a 1943 0-18 to the Martin factory to get the neck reset and the bridge (planed down in an attempt to get it playable with the flat neck angle) replaced. They asked, "Are you the original owner?" And I could have said, "Sort of -- my dad got it for me when I was four." But I told the truth, that I got it from the original owner as a gift, when he remarried at age 80 and decided he no longer had time to try to play the guitar he'd had all those years. So I didn't faint when the price for the work came to $853, since that's all I had in it. Bob
