Blowzabella Seasongs & Shanties Morecambe 12/13 Sept (12) Seasongs & Shanties Morecambe 12/13 Sept 06 Aug 09

This year, as part of Morecambe's annual 'We Do Like to be Beside the Sea!' weekend, we've managed to include an element of our much-loved seasongs and shanties - which will be performed by some of our much-loved artists.

The event takes place over the weekend of Friday & Saturday 12th and 13th September. There are free daytime performances by Paul Sirman, Andy Kenna, One Sheet Short (Geoff Higginbottom and Keith Kendrick) and Stormalong John. On Saturday evening, there is a ticketed concert at The Platform, with Paul, Andy, Stormies and the legend that is Louis Killen *sigh*. On Sunday evening, Sid Kipper is in concert, presenting his 'Cod & Ships' show!

Taffy Thomas will also be telling his 'Salty Tales' and there is a host of other entertainments and attractions (free), including a flea circus, escapologist, pierrots, comic dramas, punch & judy and, on the Sunday afternoon, the Bradford to Morecambe Historic Vehicle Rally (something like 200 vintage vehicles) and an air display by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

It's not a folk festival - but it is a bloody good weekend, celebrating traditional seaside fun and frolics, with a hint of the briny, snuck in under the radar! All of the entertainment is free, apart from the ticketed evening concerts. Tickets for these are available from the Platform Box Offiec on 01524 582803. Other enquiries, please ring 01524 582872.

Many thanks and hope you might be able to get along.
