I heard this morning and I must admit I'm devastated. I first met Jim many years ago when he was a guest at Matt Armour's folk club, The Song Loft. In recent years we became good friends when he started to appear regularly at Matt's Folk Workshop on a Sunday lunchtime at The Vaults, Stony Stratford. He was always very complimentary about my music and we had planned to work together sometime... we shared very similar tastes in song (good, well written ones!). Jim was an extremely knowledgeable man and I loved his stories of '60s American folk revival people he knew well - a lot of them my heroes. Strange, we had arranged that I was to visit him at home on the 22nd... so, Karen, please count me in - it will just be particularly poignant for me that I would have been there anyway and we would have been doing some music together. So sad: Matt, Johnny and now Jim plus so many other friends and family gone this year - there must be a fantastic session going on somewhere! Love and blessings Karen and your family, Roddy x
