Durham Folk Festival 1985. Jim was stunning; probably my first live encounter with a hammer dulcimer - an overwhelming experience that hearing recorded music just didn't prepare you for. Sunday evening, heavy rain, standing at a roundabout trying to thumb a lift home, it was Jim who stopped for this (then) complete stranger, and took me all the way to Sheffield. Just another mark of his generousity to add to the long list. Cheers Jim, Richard Beswick.
