Steve in Sidmouth Shrewsbury Folk Festival (uk) 2009 (101* d) RE: Shrewsbury Folk Festival (uk) 2009 01 Sep 09

I've got a picture of the (nearly) failed roof strut at Towersey, I'll put it on my website sometime in the next week or so. Their infrastructure is very well thought out in the main, apart from spending lots more money on a new larger water supply there is little one can suggest.

The failure at Shrewsbury was apparently very similar (Danco marquee again maybe?) but the failure was only noticed when a 12 foot long section of metal fell on the dance floor - lucky it didn't land on someone's head. Venue closed for repairs and two H&S inspections - one by marquee people and the other by local council - so I was told.

Strange but there appears to be nothing in the local newspaper!! Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? Or maybe the Press Officer was doing her job and only feeding them all the good news?

Both weekends (Towersey and Shrewsbury) were dry but windy - in contrast to Sidmouth. For anyone who didn't experience it themselves this year - you can view some of the mud starting on this webpage:

mud glorious mud up to page folk139 if memory serves me right!
