About time the transport police got on top of some of the gricers, they've been stupidly dangerous for years. Two instances, just last year I was at Corpach watching the black five from Fort William to skye. Stood by the crossing with a German photographer on holday. A mini bus full of people turn up just before the train arrives. They get out run to the crossing, next moment they are standing on the running line !! As the train slows to almost a halt, whistling, they grudginley get off the track !! But things haven't changed. I used to live in York and work in one of the museums with friends in the NRM so I got steam timings. About thirty years ago, I can't remember which loco, Scotsman or Gresley was due into York from the north. The lines at Clifton siding were filled to the brim. Idiots were standing on the main down as well as the main up as full Newcastle bound trains were flying past. There was nearly at least one fatal !! The transport police could hardly cope because as soon as they got one lot of gricers off the line, another lot were on a bit further up or down. Most of these fools had train proof coats as we called them on the NYMR. Crazy, and they still do it whether on network rail lines or preserved lines.

Yes Ed, things kept going even when it snowed. I remember being up at Levisham trying to break up the ballast along with the rest of the P-way gang having gone out on a snowy winter Sunday works train. Snow and ice every where. "It packed so densly on the level crossing that the flanges nearly rode on top of the rails !!!!!" LOL I agree with your choice for films,but I've always liked the day to day running films as well. Though I do like "Coronation" as well. Shame they never made one about the Leader.Terminus is good also.
