The song "Quand je bois du vin clairet" is fabulous and my husband and I would very much like to sing it but we would like to know what it means and my schoolgirl French isn't up to the job of translating it properly. I can get the general idea (drinking song) but not the detail. Is there a fluent French speaker out there who would be willing to translate it for me, please? Do hope someone can help. Regards to all, Marilyn Main lyrics (the actual tune) ============================ Quand je bois du vin clairet, Amis, tout tourne, tourne, tourne, tourne, Aussi desormain je bois (the e in desormain has acute accent) Anjou or Arbois Chantons et buvons, a ce flacon faisons la guerre (grave accent on a, cedilla on c in ce and flacon) Chantons et buvons, mes amis, buvons donc. Harmony Part ============= Le bon vin nous a rendu gais, Chantons, oublions nos peines, chantons. En mangeant d'un gras jambon, A ce flacon faisons la guerre. (Grave accent on A, cedilla on the c in ce and flacon) Thanks in advance
