If you ever hear Johnny sing some of the more emotional songs like Duke Ellington's Black and Blue, Mr Echo, you may change your mind. (Last visit to Tudor he caused more than a few damp eyes). He still belts them out but he also has finesse, emotion and the ability to vary the pace pitch and timbre of his set. Unlike most artistes of his age he lives very much in the here and now and not in the 5 decades that span his career. A role model for life not just for music. As much as we love the oldies, Tudor as a club also goes out of its way to find and book emerging acts (not as easy as you may think), who in 40 years time may become the golden oldies.
