Last weekend, 12th + 13th, saw the 2nd Mumbles maritime festival, (just outside Swansea). Considering it was a free festival not many turned up but the performers enjoyed themselves. All the guests were well known on the Briish shanty scene, Landlocked, Bosuns Call, Shanty Jack, Hughie Jones and the group I sing with, Baggyrinkle (the Swansea Shantymen). Saturday night in the Yacht Club what a session! Informal, loud and of course occassionally a bit bawdy, but what the hell, the club members didn't complain, they knew what to expect this year! Next weekend sees the 23rd Pontardawe festival. What startedc as a Celtic folk music festival, (yes it does exist), is now an international music festival. Fairport on Friday, Hank Wangford and the Lost Cowboys on Saturday, Should prove interesting. I'm off to Pontardawe now. Take a week off work to sell tickets and T shirts and answer the 'phone. See you all next week, take care now, LYA........Michael.
