The only way we are going to STOP mountaintop removal is to close down the coal fired power plants that create the demand. Portland, Oregon has an air pollution problem, especially when the east wind blows out of the Columbia River Gorge. On the other side of the Gorge is the PGE coal-fired power plant in Boardman. We are working _very_ hard to get this plant shut down, as well as one in Centralia, Washington. Most of the coal for these plants, several trains _every_day_, comes from the Powder River Basin in Wyoming and Montana.
