Goole Folk Club met every Monday night in the RAOB Club, Goole from around 1969 and it not only supplied romantic interest for Steve Gardham (we think he met his wife there), it also went on to nurture a little concertina wizard called Chris Sherburn. The club lasted around 25 years and in its heyday regular visitors were Christy Moore, Eddie and Finbar Furey, Vin Garbutt, Martin Carthy, The Watersons, Dick Gaughan, Nic Jones, even Ossian played there once. NB to the pedantic: Goole was in the West Riding of Yorkshire when the club started up!
