Outside Huntingdon Hall in Worcester there was one of those Yellow Fibreglass bins that they leave the salt and sand mixture in, for spreading on the ground when it's icy.
As usual it had the word "Grit" moulded into the front panel.
Next to it was another identical one, except that this one was labelled "Determination".
It was an art installation.
I met the artist later at a show, and she told me that they really did have salt in them. I just thought that it was brilliant, both witty and useful as well.
Just what we need in this weather, Grit and Determination.
Our bin men, who have not ventured out for six weeks now, please take note!
