As a general rule, two voices are plenty for folk music, one high, one low. Also there's no reason to have duplicate instruments such as two guitars. Better to have a range of instrumental sounds for variety. It's always great to have a bass of some kind. The more players, the tougher it is to sound tight. Too many cooks ... == Johnny
