"Anyway, Henry VIII declared the Pope cannot interfere with British law and that is fine by me!" Henry was of course King of England, controlling Wales and Ireland too. One shouldn't really mix up England with Britain. Scotland went through its own seperate and more thorough Reformation. Britain as a political entity didn't exist in Henry's time.
