Hello everyone on Mudcat- here is bumf for our first birthdy show. Hope some of you can make it.... Kit & Cutter pt.10: Bartram Brookes and Weatherall & The Wright Family The next Kit & Cutter will mark our first birthday -yay! - it's one entire year since we first showed up at the Deptford Arms clutching some plastic flowers and a book of raffle tickets, hoping for the best. Along the way a lot has happened: we've made some truly fascinating friends; met several of our heroes (and developed some massive new folk-crushes); we accidently became folk singers; headlined Glastonbury*; became the focus of an American post-grad thesis; been (slightly drunken) guests on a radio show... And what better way to celebrate such an illustrious first year for the club than to make it a family affair? Bartram, Brookes and Weatherall are old pros, bouncing off each other's expertise, their sound given depth by many years of musical association and friendship. The well known individual talents of Neil Brookes on fiddle and Tony Weatherall (Katie's Dad!) on melodeon are completed with vocals from Chris Bartram, one of the finest folk singers who's not regularly persuaded to perform. Bartram Brookes & Weatherall: http://www.myspace.com/bartrambrookesweatherall Michael Wright is a particular friend to the club and you may well have caught him championing the Jew's harp before. The Guardian says he sounds like he's off a Neu! record, so prepare yourself for a sound not quite like anything you've heard before when the whole Wright Family (all Jews Harp players) are in full swing. The Wright Family: http://www.jewsharper.info/?s=michael There's going to be CAKE, open spots, sing-a-longs, and opportunities to shake your shimmy. It's our birthday and we'll cry if we want to, but we probably wont as it's going to be really great. Love from K&C xx *pretty much. Sort of. UPCOMING DATES: 27th MARCH: ALASDAIR ROBERTS AND ELLE OSBORNE ! ! ! 17th APRIL: TBC 1 MAY: MARTIN CARTHY MAYDAY SPECIAL ! ! ! !
