I began using Mudcat seven years ago to counter snide and ignorant ultra-folkist whingeings about a new(ish) young and talented performer who was just releasing his first CD. Indeed, many of these GEFFs admitted not ever having seen or heard this artist, but had garnered "opinions" from like-minded old gits. What still pisses me off about Mudcat is that the Swigging Pig denizens still hang around like a bad smell, insisting that how they did it in 1965 is how it should be done now. No change or improvement because it's . . . yes . . . GEFF. To paraphrase a painkiller ad: NOTHING is GOOD ENOUGH for [insert word of choice for trad and roots music].
