eddie1 Liz Meyer's Miracle Birthday (1) Liz Meyer's Miracle Birthday 07 Mar 10

Those of you who know Liz, either personally or from her music, might like to read this from her husband on another forum;

"From Pieter Groenveld in Holland:

Most of you know my wife Liz Meyer from her great album THE STORM or
from other artists recording her songs, or the many albums she has
produced for other artists.

Liz has been exactly 9 months bedridden in a small cancer hospital in
southern Germany. Breast cancer had spread through so much of her bones
that most doctors would have seen her case as hopeless last summer. She
had virtually no spine left when she arrived here in Bad Aibling, near
Munich. But she is a fighter, and Liz has been fortunate to have a
brilliant doctor who has done very gentle treatments that by now have
killed more than 90% of the cancer and restored life to her bones. I am
pleased to report that in the past 3 weeks she has begun to sit in a
wheelchair for a few minutes each day, and now she has taken her first
steps using a large walking frame. We hope after another month of mild
chemotherapy and exercise to be able to send her to a rehabilitation
clinic where they focus on rebuilding her muscles and coordination, and
to have her back at home in Holland before long.

Liz will be celebrating her birthday this week, and we consider it a
great miracle. We hope you will help celebrate by playing some of her
music in the coming days.

Some of you might only have a live track from the "10 Years of European
World of Bluegrass" double CD. Anyone who would like a copy of Liz her
album THE STORM, please let us know and we will be more than happy to
send you a copy. There have been a few glitches in the mailing and it is
possible that a few people who requested THE STORM in the autumn did not
receive it. Again, please let us know so that we can remedy the situation.

We are very grateful to all the deejays who have helped people discover
Liz's songs by playing her albums and wish to send our heartfelt thanks
to you all. Seeing her songs being played on your programs is one of the
things that has helped to keep her spirits up during her long battle.

Liz asks me to convey both thanks and apologies to those who've sent
emails since November, as her intensive physiotherapy has not left her
much energy to spare for computer time, so she has not been keeping up
with email replies.

Yours truly,
Pieter Groenveld

God Bless, Liz. Hang on in there.
