And we also need an answer to this. Jim Carroll wrote in reply: "Does it really matter if all of D - X above are sung alongside traditional songs as long as the traditional songs are being sung," Yes it does - it robs it of its uniqueness." Does this mean, therefore, that the songs of Tom Bliss should not be sung alongside traditional songs, because it robs them of their uniqueness? Why does that not apply to songs by MacColl, Tawney and McGinn? Does this also mean that all four of these artists were wrong to sing traditional songs alongside their own compositions?
