As the OP, just to clarify that although some others here do, I don't personally use the 'folk' word to mean purely 'traditional' (I use 'traditional' for that ;-) ) I was just opening the thread as an invitation to share and celebrate 'female voices of distinction' within the folk *genre* so to speak, however broadly others here might interpret that for themselves.
