I know there's no such thing as "a Scottish dialect" and that there are several [or perhaps 'many' would be more accurate]. Growing up in the U.S. midwest, my first introduction to any form of Scots dialect was listening to Harry Lauder. I'd be interested in comments from 'catters on Lauder's dialect. Was it representative of a particular district of Scotland [if so, what district], or was it a distinct Harry Lauder dialect? Just curious. Reiver 2
