ichMael Review: Jesse Edwin Davis (guitarist) (6) Review: Jesse Edwin Davis (Taj Mahal guitarist) 14 Apr 10

Searched, didn't find anything on Jesse Edwin Davis.

Taj Mahal's first album is still the greatest blues album I've ever heard (personal favorite, at least). If you have no electric blues recordings, this might be the one to get.

Jesse Edwin Davis was the guitarist on the album. Wikipedia has an entry about Davis. I was looking for some info on him tonight and read this, didn't realize he'd played guitar with such a range of artists (Conway Twitty to John Lennon).

Youtube has a couple of clips. Everybody Got To Change Sometime, from 1968. Film footage from a club date. High energy. Davis playing a Telecaster, Mahal in fine form. Great clip.

Then there's Leaving Trunk. Singer/harp player Mahal with the trio behind him. This band had vibrancy. The Davis guitar work is superb.
