Shepley Spring Festival, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, is coming up just around the corner, a weekend later than usual from 21st-23rd May. (So it might be a bit warmer this year!) The festival has a full weekend of events celebrating the best of traditional music, song and dance, including concerts, ceilidhs, morris dancing, music and song sessions, and music and dance workshops. Artists include: Seth Lakeman, 3 Daft Monkeys, Jackie Oates, Mawkin:Causley, Tim O'Brien & Kris Drever, Skerryvore, Saltfishforty, Jim Moray, Bedlam, Shepley Singers There is also a special event on the Sunday called 'To Slay a Bullock' which is a collaboration between Grenoside Sword Dancers and The Newcastle Kingsmen (current champions of DERT!) to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of Cecil Sharp's "Sword Dances of Northern England - Part1." The day will include a rare performance, several dance workshops and an illustrated talk. And you can even hire a Yurt for the weekend!
