Even Middlewich had its cinema - The Alhambra - now a chinese restaurant, but instantly recognisable as an old picture house, and it's nice that the name has been retained. I went to the Saturday morning matinees a few times (the cinema closed circa 1963)and remember seeing The Three Stooges which, even then, I thought desperately unfunny. Another great song about the saturday matinees is Bernard Wrigley's 'Saturday Cowboys'.
