Chivers Plant Littlechild Ham Gosling Bottomly Polkinghorn Cross Winterbotham Shattock Kneebone Hiscox Averiss Prigg Fassbender Smele Fawcetta Bassett Dungey Pidcock Lamb Pilkington Peacock Hand Baldwin.... are all surnames of people I have encountered in my career and which made me profoundly grateful to my father for having a normal surname! Had I been born with any of the above listed, I suspect the result would have been a lifetime of teasing and a dash to change it for something more conventional as soon as I was old enough to do so. My thanks to all previous posters in this thread for giving me a few good giggles and my sincere sympathies to those who bear such unfortunate surnames and have to endure our amused reactions.
