Chuck Berry singing MAYBELLINE Most online lyric databases have Chuck Berry 'motivating' over the hill... from, motivate 1885, "to stimulate toward action," from motive (q.v.), perhaps modeled on Fr. motiver or Ger. motivieren . Related: Motivated ; motivating . Yet, I have always heard Berry 'motorvating' on the hill--- the man just turning the noun MOTOR into an adjective. How deluded am I?
