Preston Guardian, Jan 8 1870 Rip von who??? The only Google entry I can find is that it was sung in New Zealand some 5 years later. I actually sang on the stage of the Corn Exchange when I was a lad of 10 or 11. The bulldozers moved in during the 1970's to make way for a new road. Just the entrance foyer (now a pub) remains. Ah, me.
