Aye, once again, a great weekend in Scarborough. Unfortunately, we were only able to be at Sea Fest for Friday and Saturday, as we had another performance out at the Ryedale Folk Museum on Sunday. But it was grand to see everyone once again, if only briefly. Dick Miles did a nice set (despite that pesky borrowed guitar), Friday night at the Merchant, and Penny was doing a very good one as well, when suddenly a man in the audience collapsed. Penny stopped mid-song and medical assistance was summoned. He was OK, and was in the front row for arrgghhhhh set Saturday night out on the pier. Penny won the songwriting competition, and though I don't know who was competiting, the song she entered was very good. Winning kind of made up for enduring medical emergencies in her set the night before. Thanks to Richard & Jeanette Grainger for putting on a great festival amidst a year of budget cuts everywhere, and thanks to the sponsors and supporters for making sure Sea Fest's 11th year continued a great tradition. Also, thanks to everyone in Scarborough who came out and supported the festival. We had a great time our second year at Sea Fest, and will be planning arrgghhhh next summer's UK tour starting in September. cheers, Shanghai Brown & the crew o' There Be Pirates!
