Old Grizzly ADD: Who Threw the Mush in Grandpa's Whiskers? (11) Lyr Add: FATHER'S WHISKERS 17 Aug 10

A English song in a similar vein. From the singing of the late Tufty Swift. I think it is on his LP 'How to make a Bakewell Tart'

Tufty may have written it but my guess is this one has its origins in English Music hall ... anyone know?

FATHER'S WHISKERS

My father wears his whiskers in the long and ancient style,
He never wears a vest, the birds come there and want to nest.
Each time he kisses mother dear, she cries, Oh, mercy Claud.
Her face is full of cuts and ruts, in fact it's like a cribbage board, through;

Ch.   Father's whiskers, father's wiry whiskers.
       Children shout on the way to school,
       Baa, baa, black sheep have you any wool?

At father's whiskers, they'd make a monkey grin
Theyt aughta seen the whiskers there on poor old fathers chin.

A tramp came up and grabbed his beard and cut himself a strip.
He shouted Hip Hooray, he filled his pipe and puffed away.
One Christmas time we quite forgot to buy a Christmas tree.
The children cried, poor mother sighed, she said there's only one thing left that's;
Ch......
On Christmas evening, it made the children grin.
To stop their noise, we hung the toys on poor old father's chin.

Some time ago we went and spent a fortnight by the sea,
He went to bathe one day, he jumped into the briny spray.
The Margate boat came dashing out, the people loudly squealed,
The boat became a total wreck, because she caught her paddle wheel in;
Ch.........
When he goes bathing, to cheer we all begin
The crabs and shrimps come home to tea on poor old father's chin.

Last Sunday at the races, so exited he became,
He jumped upon the course, and loudly cheered his favourite horse.
Come off you fool, you'll lose your life the people loudly howled.
He just stood there and waved his arms, the horses stopped an loudly neighed at;
Ch........
The horses stumbled, the favourite couldn't win.
The jockey went and lost his way in poor old father's chin. In;
Father's whiskers, father's wiry whiskers.
Children shout on the way to school,
Baa, baa black sheep have you any wool?
