The only actor I have ever seen portray Wolfe, and rather badly, was Edward Arnold. The problem with stage or screen portrayals of Wolfe is that while Wolfe is billed as the star of the stories and Archie the supporting character, it is, of course, really just the opposite. But I will certainly try to find Mr. Chaykin's Wolfe at the library! I missed the TV series as I was living in Europe at the time, and was not aware of its existence before reading this thread.
