You are right about Bligh. I remember the line from the 1935 film "Mutiny on the Bounty" with Charles Laughton playing Captain Bligh and Clark Gable playing Fletcher Christian. (Won Oscar for Best Picture.) My memory recalls Bligh on the deck standing on a sailor's foot, with the sailor exclaiming "You're standin' on my foot Captain". To which Bligh says, "Then cut off his foot Mr Christian."
