Personally I find it quite refreshing to be referred to as "not a risk taker". I can't decide if I prefer it it the usual "not all his wilful experimentation is successful" criticism of me. I'll let you know when I work it out. re: the role of drummers, Dorothy - you are making the mistake of assuming that things are black and white. A lot of drumming takes the role of timekeeping, just as a lot of guitar playing takes the role of harmonic support, but who says that all music must be that way - sounds pretty boring to me. And you criticise for being dull and unimaginative? clap clap clap. well done. no - really, well done.
