We were listening to a Mary O´Hara L.P. the other night (an L.P. from 1958) and one of the songs took our fancy. The song is called "The Wexford Mummer´s Song" but actually concerns two women, P***? Grey and Nancy Hogan, who "lived in Derry Town, in Derry Town in Troden/Shroden"(?). They each buy a pig, whose tails are cut off by two blackguards. When they (the women) die (the day after eachother) they are buried by some more blackguards (or possibly the same ones). It´s a short song and probably one of many Wexford Mummer´s songs. We managed to get most of the words down but are unsure of a couple of things - particularly the name of the first woman and just what Troden or Shroden might be. If anyone knows the words to the whole song then please get in touch. All the best from Tim & Sussie
