For me its a style of music not its date - those great storys about Fiddlers Green show that. Sure people still farm and I have heard many wonderful songs about the land and changing seasons in a style called folk. My local club which states '38 years of the tradition' certainly retains a strong connection with 'historic' songs but allows and encourages new 'folk style' writing.
