////I mean, lets get real here folks... No one has ever said that we should have just "shrugged off" 9/11... At the time there were many voices of reason that suggested that 9/11 should have been dealt with as an international crime... The US had almost the entire world's sympathy and folks would have been willing to help the US in tracking down the bad guys, bin Laden included, putting them on trial and demonstrating to the entire world that the US believe in international law...

But, no... We had a cowboy for president who wasn't even elected by the American people, his "wag the dog" advisor Karl Rove and a bunch of neocons in Pearle, Wolfowitz, Cheney and Rice so.../////

I agree that the response to 9-11 was utterly botched by the Bush administration but if we just pack up and leave Afghanistan, the Talibn and much of the Arab world will regard it as a victory. "We fucked them up with 9-11 and they came over here to kick our ass and we handed theirs to them!" That IS how they will see it.
