Mandolin (plus its close relatives) (my primary instrument): because I always loved it (my Dad played mandolin) and there was always a mandolin around the house so have been playing it since my early teens. Guitar: Because I became interested in it through rock n' roll around age 10/11 and because it's so versatile. Some others, e.g. Scottish smallpipes, just because I like them.
