GUEST,S.T.M Musicians in Maidstone area (7) Musicians in Maidstone area 18 Nov 10

Hello all,

I was wondering if there are any musicians around in the Kent area (preferably Maidstone and surrounding) who has some spare time during a weekday afternoon? I work for Age Concern Maidstone and we run a small afternoon session called "wii and tea" (clients play the nintendo wii and have some tea!). Anyway, we have one client who is feeling a bit low...she used to teach classical guitar (although she admits she is an amateur and just wanted to get people started) and was wondering if there were any musical groups she could join. I let her know about the various sessions and sing-a-rounds that happen in the evening but she has to care for her ill husband in the evening (when the carer goes home). I thought it would be a nice idea to start a small music group. We have a venue in central maidstone. She was just hoping to have other people to play with. We have some people who are interested but who have never played before, so they'd be coming along for the learning experience more than anything else. I was wondering if anyone has a spare afternoon that they could come down and provide a few chords or some melodies? Nothing huge or expert...just so she (and the others) has someone to play with. You would not only be helping people learn, but also providing relief for older people who acts as carers for most of their week.

Please let me know if you're interested. I am unable to log in as I am at work but my screen name is S.T.M. Alternatively, I am "Sinéad McQuillan" on facebook, or my email is frejyaathena@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks!
Sinéad.

Ps. She was hoping to do some basic folksy kind of songs...
