Shock & horror! An error! Wood was shot dead on December 31st 1930. Most humble apologies, please forgive. The eminent, Ralph Rinzler gave the 30th on his liner notes for "Doc Watson & Son" (1965). A rare divergence from better word later on. See, eg, the Salisbury Post I have not personally seen the death certificate or period newspaper report. Abby (Woe!)
