Maeve-- Last Sunday I dropped by the UCC church in New Gloucester, Maine. The pastor's sermon opened with the following quote, which elicited much rueful laughter from her congregation: "As Joseph Krutch said, 'The most serious charge which can be brought against New England is not Puritanism but February.'"
