Yes well said, they are some of the best and most descriptive songs. After I came across the book in the Museum in Melton Mowbray I compared the words of quite a few songs, many phrases of which would seem to be imitative of hunting horn calls, an example being in 'The Morning Looks Charming, the refrain is "Hark to the hounds, The morning is fair.." both of which seem to me to be exact copies of calls. So then the next question is which came first? ....not that it really matters! But it would be an interesting study. For those interested I do have the name and author of the book, unfortunately it is in Canada and I am in England until May! But I will track it down. Cheers Phillip
