I don't think things such as musical ability are inherited through genes. I think musical interest/tendencies comes more from exposure; whether it be from parents, grandparents, friends, school, etc. However, things such as voice can be inherited, so it's completely possible that Georgia has her mother's voice but not her incredible pitch and rhythm. These things can be learnt although they will probably be more limited the longer they are left.
