GUEST,S.T.M. A bit of a pickle! [Musos/Cloggers, Kent, UK] (4) A bit of a pickle! 08 Apr 11

Hi there,

I am in a bit of a mess and wondered if anyone here could help me out or signpost me on to some help!

I have been asked to find some musicians and clog dancers (separately or together!) for a charity conference. The slot is 2.00- 2.30 and unpaid. There will be an audience of 200, many of whom are chief executives of various local charities (in Kent) and I think the MP is also coming...so perhaps potential for future bookings, especially if you bring a card.

I manged to get my friends involved who play in a big folk rock band, just to tone it done and go acoustically. However, as the date has been changed to April the 20th, they can no longer do it. I am in talks with a clog troupe from Faversham but nothing is confirmed.

I feel absolutely awful asking if there is anyone willing to do this for free, because I strongly feel that if they can afford to book the corn exchange and guest speakers, then they should have put money in for the musician! However, it is out of my hands and so I am appealing to you for help...

Just to clarify:

Date: April 20th 2011
Time: 2.00-2.30pm
Lunch: Provided
Travel: Paid
Cash Compensation: None.
Location: Corn Exchange, Maidstone, Kent.
Purpose: "Old Peoples Forum"- a gathering of charity leaders, volunteers and local older residents to hear about various charities and organisations that have been set up in their favour.
Audience size: 150-200.
PA: Unknown...

Ideally we are looking for a small group- a duo or trio perhaps, to play some upbeat tunes, ideally for the cloggers to dance to (if we get any!) or sing upbeat songs (I know folk is usually about dying and murder and adultery but...y'know...)- but beggars can't be choosers!

If anyone knows of anyone or has any suggestions, that would be ever so helpful.

Thanks,
Sinéad.
