Mention of 'Hey Porter' reminds me that many of the train songs in country music extol the virtues of heading south. Without even breaking sweat I think of Pan American - Hank Williams City of New Orleans - Steve Goodman The Golden Rocket - Hank Snow Converesly I can't think of one northbound train song.
