Sounds like you all are willing to entertain a few guests, so I'll chime in. I started a major decluttering push April 16, and so far have removed exactly 300 things from the place, either by donation or trash. (I'm finding it really helpful to keep a count, and I just wrapped up my second-week goal of 150 things. Stuff has just been accumulating for too long because we haven't moved in a really long time, and I would really like a simpler, less crowded house where there is space for what we want to do rather than space for what we used to think was important 10 years ago. I think about how much of the square footage of the mortgage is basically just paying for a big storage locker! And it's not going to get out of here in one weekend or 2 weeks, it's going to take a long time, so I'm just chipping away the best I can. It feels really good to start taking control of the situation, although the change is barely noticeable so far. Anybody else just starting out with this thing?
