GUEST,BigDaddy Practical Advice for Performers and Fans (1) Practical Advice for Performers and Fans 27 May 11

I was once told that Bo Diddley gave the following advice to a younger performer..."When you go out on that stage son, keep your billfold in your pocket," and "If you leave that stage and you're gettin' a standing ovation, don't wait too long before you go back out there." I can add some further advice. When you're at a concert at the Ark in Ann Arbor (a wonderful venue)
some 70 miles from home, don't hang your coat on the coat rack without at least keeping your car keys, cell phone and wallet on your person. And if it's a cold, rainy night, you should probably just keep the coat with you in case you have a long walk back to your car, and you're still recovering from ankle surgery. The good news is that on the spur of the moment, I did keep my valuables on my person rather than in my coat. And the person who accidentally took my coat returned it to the Ark, mailed me a note to let me know and the Ark called me to arrange for pickup. By the way, the show that night was Raul Malo, and well worth the inconvenience!
