Guernsey Pete Lyr Req: Sweetness of Mary (Joan MacDonald Boes) (3) RE: Lyr Req: Sweetness of Mary (Joan MacDonald Boes) 12 Jun 11

I think it's just a tune, and a fine tune, and that's all it needs to be.
I guess you're a singer and not an instrumentalist. It could well be, in time, you might find an inspiration to write some words to this yourself. That's ok. Just remember that the composer obviously didn't feel the need to do this herself, and perhaps considered that the tune was sufficient already.
I can think of a few tunes, like The Dark Island and The Mist-Covered Mountains, where I wish the persons who wrote words to these tunes had left them alone.
Of course, that's just my opinion.
Why don't you learn to play this tune on an instrument ? That's the best way for it.
