Stilly River Sage says "No, I've never been kicked by a cow, but I have been licked by a cow. " Well so have I- and for no discernable reason. Behind our back garden there is a meadow where a local farmer raises Heifers and, this year, a few Bullocks too. Between our garden fence and the field there is a six foot wide, wire fenced, 'no-man's land' ('no cows' land' maybe) so that the cattle can't reach over and eat our garden plants. We grow a row of potatoes out there, mostly to keep the ground clear and keep the nettles and thistles from spreading into the garden. I was out in this area fixing the washing line to the concrete fence post when I felt something tugging at the leg of my jeans, and a little grey and white heifer had stuck her head through the wire and was licking my leg. It makes you wonder what she thought she was doing, assuming cows think of anything. Cheers Dave
