Sometimes it pays to ask for a reduction on the cost of an item. I recieved my RSPB renewal & knew it was going to be £48.00 for the joint membership but due to being unable to do much birding for the pass few years & very limited income I rang & asked if there was any discount for over 60s to be told "no but you can have your joint membership for £19.00". The answer being they would rather we stay as memers & they have a reduced income than no member at all. When we are able to get out we will now put a donation in the box if we have any spare change.
